Standard E9: The facility has defined & established procedures for screening & basic management of Mental health aliments as per Operational/Clinical
standard pertains to adherence of clinical guidelines for screening and basic management of Mental health aliments.
The staff interviewed to know the availability of services in terms of screening, prevention, health promotion and management, referral linkages, follow up of referred cases and follow-up care from HWC (SC) through outreach activities.
Records should be reviewed for confirming treatment is given as per plan.
ME E9.1: The facility ensures primary screening and early identification of common mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and neurological ailments.
(Focuses on screening for depression, anxiety, severe mental disorders, alcohol and substance abuse, dementia, and epilepsy during facility visits and outreach activities).
ME E9.2: The facility provides basic primary management, counseling, and psycho-social support for mental health conditions as per guidelines.
(Focuses on providing basic pharmacological/non-pharmacological interventions, psycho-social first aid, lifestyle guidance, and stress management support at the primary care level).
ME E9.3: The facility ensures effective referral linkages, tele-consultation support (Tele-MANAS/eSanjeevani), and follow-up care for mental health patients.
(Focuses on referring severe cases to District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) / higher medical centers, utilizing tele-mental health services, and conducting community outreach follow-ups for treatment adherence).
