Standard C4: The facility provides drugs and consumables required for assured services

DR.AMIR

  • The standard measures availability of drugs & consumables for services provided at health & wellness centre.

  • This includes availability of drugs, vaccines, lab regents, contraceptives etc.

  • The Standard also expect availability of emergency medical drugs and drugs for follow up patients, National Health Programmes i.e. communicable and non-communicable diseases including ent, Oral, Mental health and palliative care etc.

  • one must ensure that drugs and consumables are available at the HWC (SC) as per the state’s Essential Drug List (edl).

  • ME C4.1: The facility ensures availability of essential drugs as per the state Essential Medicines List (EML) / HWCs core drug list.

    (Focuses on maintaining adequate stocks of required medicines for routine OPD, follow-up NCD care, maternal and child health, and national health programs without stock-outs).

  • ME C4.2: The facility maintains essential medical consumables, diagnostic reagents, and rapid testing kits required for service delivery.

    (Focuses on regular stock availability of syringes, gloves, diagnostic test kits, lancets, and lab reagents to support point-of-care diagnostics).

  • ME C4.3: The facility ensures safe storage, cold chain maintenance, and inventory management of drugs and vaccines.

    (Focuses on proper storage conditions, maintenance of room/refrigerator temperature logs, First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) management, and handling of expired or look-alike/sound-alike (LASA) drugs).
