Standard B4: The facility maintains privacy, confidentiality and dignity of patient
The standard measures services in term of ensuring privacy, confidentiality and dignity.
The standard look for compliances such as provisions of screens and curtains (visual privacy), confidentiality of patients’ clinical information is maintained (information if any is shared with patients kin only).
It also focuses empathetic behaviour of service providers and ensure comfort & dignity of female patients is maintained while providing services.
ME B4.1: Privacy of patients is maintained during consultation, examination, and procedures.
(Focuses on physical and visual privacy provisions such as screens, curtains, enclosed examination rooms, and ensuring patient comfort, particularly for female patients).
ME B4.2: Confidentiality of clinical and personal information of patients is maintained.
(Focuses on secure storage of patient records/registers, controlled access to medical data, and sharing clinical information strictly with the patient or authorized kin).
ME B4.3: Facility staff demonstrate respectful, empathetic, and dignified behavior towards patients.
(Focuses on polite communication, polite handling during care delivery, avoiding public discussion of sensitive medical conditions, and maintaining patient dignity at all times).
